New EVERGLASS video: How Lasers Are Transforming the Future of Glass Recycling
The EVERGLASS project continues to make strides, and a new promotional video has been created to showcase its objectives and vision. The video highlights an important issue in glass recycling: while everyday items like bottles and jars are easy to recycle, more complex types of glass—such as medical vials, smartphone screens, and certain industrial glass products—often end up in landfills due to the challenges they present in traditional recycling processes.
EVERGLASS aims to revolutionize glass recycling with its cutting-edge laser technology. The project’s goal is to develop a prototype machine that uses this technology to precisely melt and deposit glass, making it possible to recycle even small and hard-to-recycle glass items. Unlike conventional recycling methods that require large, energy-consuming furnaces, the EVERGLASS process offers precise control over the energy needed to melt and reshape glass. This innovative technique, known as “Glass Laser Morphing,” functions similarly to 3D printing, allowing for the creation of custom glass products without the need for costly moulds.
The EVERGLASS team is a diverse, international group, bringing together expertise from eight partner organizations across four European countries: Spain, Slovakia, France, and Germany. Slovakia is proudly represented by our FunGlass Centre, which is contributing to the research and development of this project.
