Welcome to Our New PhD Students at FunGlass
We are happy to introduce the latest additions to our research community at FunGlass. We believe that these talented PhD students will contribute to our mission to develop scientific research in glass, ceramics and related materials through their education and research projects. Please join us in welcoming them!
Terézia Sabadková
Terézia graduated from Masaryk University in Brno, starting her academic journey in clinical biochemistry before moving into Biotechnological Engineering. Her Master’s thesis, “Finding Resistance Genes of Strawberries,” under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Lochman, allowed her to master key lab techniques like DNA and RNA isolation, PCR, and RT-PCR.
Terézia worked as a researcher at the Institute of High Mountain Biology (UNIZA) in the High Tatras, where she contributed to research on alpine environmental protection and taught biochemistry and forensic chemistry. Her adaptability shines through, as she also spent time teaching primary school students.
Terézia is now excited to further her research experience at FunGlass, working on the topic “Enhancing the Utility of Silicon-Based Composites with Cerium Oxide Nanoparticles for Cancer Treatment and Tissue Engineering.” She will be member of VILA department, supervisor is Dr. Anna Prnová and co-supervisor is Dr. Zulema Vargas from dept. of Biomaterials
Maryam Ahmadi
Maryam, a graduate of Isfahan University with a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering, has focused her research on bioceramic scaffolds for tissue and bone engineering. Her Master’s thesis, “Effect of Strontium, Magnesium, and Silicon Substitutions on the Bioactivity of Biphasic Calcium Phosphate Scaffolds for Bone Regeneration,” highlighted her proficiency in biomaterials research.
With experience in 3D printing of bioceramics gained during her time as a research assistant at Isfahan University, Maryam’s passion for materials engineering brought her to FunGlass. Under the guidance of Dr. Martin Michálek, she is now exploring “The Potential of Bioactive Oxynitride Glasses for Biomedical Applications,” continuing her work on materials that can enhance bone regeneration.
Amol Logavi
Amol holds a Master’s degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology from the University of Mumbai, where his dissertation, “Evaluating the Potential of Sr-Doped Bioactive Borosilicate Glasses in Improving Bioactivity and Corrosion Resistance of SS-316L Implants,” under the guidance of Dr. Kunjal Shah, sparked his passion for materials science, particularly in glass and glass ceramics.
Amol gained hands-on experience at Surface Modification Technologies Pvt. Ltd., working on Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coatings for biomedical devices and other applications. He further developed his expertise at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, working on industrial projects ranging from glass ceramics for dental use to nanoparticle synthesis and coating technologies.
At FunGlass, under the supervision of Dr. Kamalan Mosas, Amol’s research focuses on “Enhancing Optical Properties through Antireflective Superhydrophobic Coatings Prepared by PVD and PECVD Techniques.” His extensive background in advanced coatings and nanoparticle technologies makes him a valuable asset to our team.
