FunGlass and Lithoz Collaboration Advances 3D Printing of Ceramics and Glass

Funded by the Horizon 2020 FunGlass project, Dr. Anastasiia Novokhatska and Dr. Diana Lago from the Glass Processing Department successfully completed short-term research stays at Lithoz GmbH in Vienna, Austria, under the supervision of Dr. Martin Schwentenwein, Dr. Serkan Nohut and MSc. Altan Altun.

During her 1.5-month stay (June and September 2024), Anastasiia developed valuable skills in designing and 3D printing multi-material composite structures. Her research was focused on the development of porous-dense composite ceramics via multi-material LCM 3D printing, for solid oxide fuel cell applications.

Meanwhile, Diana completed two-week research stay (September-October 2024), where she advanced her skills in printing cellular structures using the CeraFab 7500 and CeraFab 2M30 multi-material LCM 3D printing systems. Her work centered on developing highly porous structures using two different glass systems for wastewater treatment.

We would like to extend our gratitude to the Lithoz research groups for their support and knowledge-sharing, which was instrumental in achieving research objectives. This collaboration has also strengthened the scientific partnership between our institutions.
