Kick-off meeting of SIBILA project
On October 21, our institution participated in the kick-off meeting of the APVV Project (APVV-23-0097): “Multifunctional Mesoporous Silica-Based Composite Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications“ (SIBILA), coordinated by Prof. RNDr. Vladimír Zeleňák, DrSc., from P. J. Šafárik University in Košice (UPJŠ). The project brings together the Faculty of Natural Sciences of UPJŠ in Košice, the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass at Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín, and the University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice.
The meeting aimed to coordinate the project’s research activities, establish logistics for sample exchanges and measurements, discuss financial considerations, and plan popularization activities. Dr. Zulema Vargas, FunGlass’s responsible representative, and Dr. Martin Michálek, Head of the Biomaterials Department, attended on behalf of FunGlass. They presented our FunGlass Centre and Biomaterials Department, highlighting our interest in studying multifunctional platforms based on mesoporous silica and SPIONs for biomedical applications, including neurological research.
Possible avenues for collaboration were discussed, and key topics of interest related to the project were identified.
