FunGlass Review Meeting
During November 18 – November 20, 2019 we welcomed at the premises of FunGlass Centre the representatives of the European Commission and partners institutions, namely external auditors prof. Constantine Galiotis and prof. William Lee, Ms. Pepa Krasteva, Project Officer from Research Executive Agency, prof. Aldo Boccaccini and Dr. Liliana Liverani from FAU Erlangen- Nürnberg, prof. Enrico Bernardo from the University of Padova, prof. Alicia Duran from CSIC Madrid ad prof. Lothar Wondraczek from FSU Jena.
The purpose of their visit was the evaluation of the progress in implementation of the FunGlass project during its second reporting period (June 1, 2018 – August 31, 2019). Prof. Dušan Galusek director of the FunGlass Center and Dr. Peter Hošták, Head of Administrative Department presented the project achievements, accomplished objectives for this period in the field such as recruitment of researchers and PhD students, training activities, scientific impact and international collaboration. They reported evaluators also about the achievement of self-sufficiency of the Centre and strategy for the up-coming period. Our project partners spoke in more detail about their institution’s contributions to raising awareness of the FunGlass Center and their support for researchers´ and PhD students training activities.
Heads of departments came also to the floor and presented the research and design activities of their departments.
We all found the meeting very beneficial as it evoked constructive discussions, during which both the external evaluators and project officer raised many questions and recommendations for improvement.
Although the official report is yet to come, we received at the conclusion of the meeting first reviewers’ feedback. They revealed satisfaction with the Centre´s progress and highlighted the level of collaboration within the project consortium.
We would like to notice, that we will welcome the reviewers again after the 15 months project period. The third reporting period of FunGlass project is defined from September 1, 2019 – November 30, 2020.
