A popular FunGlass School was organized again, after a nonvoluntary Covid break, from October 10^th till October 13^th, 2021. This time, the FunGlass researchers, PhD students and administrative employees met in the central part of Slovakia, in a small mountain village – Osrblie.

The FunGlass School seminar was dedicated especially to the scientific skills session. The 1^st day of the presentations was opened by FunGlass director – Prof. Dušan Galusek, who introduced the progress of the FunGlass project, and the progress of the research done at the Centre.

Then, the researchers and students presented the results of their scientific research activities.  The senior researchers concluded that the quality of the presenting postdocs and PhD students’ presentations were at very high level.

The administration team talked about the ongoing reconstruction of the laboratories related to the project CEGLASS (ITMS+313011R453) and about the time schedule of the new facilities delivery. Further, information about the options of applying for the Horizon Europe funding (Hop on calls) were introduced.

The evenings were devoted to informal discussions and other teambuilding activities. The opened and friendly atmosphere of the sessions contributed to the very inspirational dialogues about the scientific research, but also about the FunGlass outreach activities.

FunGlass School Principles:

The ‘FunGlass School’ is based on the summer school concept described in the Grant Agreement of the FunGlass project, intended as a set of condensed training periods for all FunGlass employees and aiming to be one of the key elements of education and training beyond the specialized, individual work programs. Some of the goals of the school include: training in the presentation of scientific results, learning of interdisciplinary research, interdisciplinary & intercultural communication, mastering skills, such as management, writing and presentation of projects, fundraising of projects and grants.

• It is organized twice a year (Spring and Autumn) as an intensive offsite training camp for all employees and PhD students of the Centre.
• The agenda is divided into two parts: A) Scientific part and B) Complementary skills / Outreach activities. 
• All participating FunGlass researchers/doctoral students present their scientific results.
