FunGlass PhD students participated in JUNIOR EUROMAT 2022
FunGlass doctoral students Akrity Anand, Marzieh Ghadamyari, Abel Woldu Ourgessa and Ahmed Gamal participated at JUNIOR EUROMAT 2022 held in Coimbra, Portugal, on 19-22 July 2022. The conference is organised every two years in different European countries by the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS). The conference was supposed to contribute to the formation and the development of the skills of young materials‘ scientists and engineers in Europe . One of the members of this year´s International Program Committee was also prof. Aldo R. Boccaccini from Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nürnberg.
Our students presented their results in the field of their doctoral issues and moreover, Akrity Anand received young researchers’ BEST ORAL PRESENTATION AWARD, under the topics “Gels/Porous materials“, for her oral communication on the topic of “Multifunctional copper and strontium co-doped mesoporous bioactive glass: Preparation, characterization and bioactivity.‘ Akrity is in her 3rd year of doctoral studies which are supervised by Dr. Dagmar Galusková. Akrity is currently taking her long-term training stay at Institute of Biomaterials of FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg under co-supervision of prof. A. R. Boccaccini.
Presentations of other PhD students were focused on:
- Marzieh Ghadamyari: „Luminescent YAG: Er microspheres used for preparation of phosphor in glass materials“ “ (PhD supervisor: Dr. M. Michálková)
- Abel Woldu Ourgessa: “Preparation of geopolymer material from used AZS refractory and unrecycled glass fibers“ (PhD supervisor: Dr. J. Kraxner, co-supervisor: prof. E. Bernardo)
- Ahmed Gamal: “Ion-exchanged borosilicate glass vials for pharmaceutical packaging” “ (PhD supervisor: Dr. J. Kraxner, co-supervisor: prof. E. Bernardo)
