FunGlass participation at Shift Tenerife 2022 & Lecture presented at the Instituto de Nanomateriales y Nanotecnologia and the department of Chemistry of the University of La Laguna

Dr. Michal Zitnan and Assoc. Prof. José Joaquín Velázquez García participated at the conference SHIFT 2022 – Spectral shaping for biomedical and energy applications in La Laguna, Tenerife, Canary Islands October 10-14, where they had the opportunity to present the last results of the work developed in the department of Functional materials in bio and energy applications (the last one in collaboration with University of La Laguna), but also to discuss future collaborations with researchers of 80 universities from 29 countries.

The FunGlass contributions were:

  • Dr. Michla Zitnan: The study of three types of materials for “green” hydrogen production by water splitting: TiO2, ZnO and CdS
  • Assoc. Prof. José Joaquín Velázquez García: Effect of Al2O3 on the crystallization of NaYF4 in oxyfluoride silicate glass-ceramics for optical thermometer, done in collaboration with ICV-CSIC and conducted by Dr. Rajesh Dagupati

At the same time,  Ass. Prof. José Joaquín Velázquez García was invited to deliver a talk at the Instituto de Nanomaterials y Nanotecnologia and the Department of Chemistry of the University of La Laguna related to the last results obtained in H2 production of different materials performed in collaboration with the group under the supervision of Prof. Pedro Nuñez and Vicente Rodriguez. The title of the talk was: Study of materials for hydrogen production by water splitting: an example of collaboration ULL-FunGlass. During the talk, the FunGlass center was introduced finding great interest from Master’s and PhD students.  The following meeting with Prof. Pedro Nuñez and Vicente Rodriguez pointed out the necessity of the increase the collaboration between both centers in terms of joint projects.
