New researcher at FunGlass
That´s a pleasure to announce that Department of coating processes was enriched by a new member – Dr. Ashok Raja.
He received his Ph.D. in the field of Medical Bionanotechnology from University of Madras, Tamil Nadu, India in 2020 for the thesis “Fabrication of bioactive glass based nanocomposites with biomedical applications”. During his Ph.D. work he has worked on various wet chemical techniques for the synthesis of metal and metal oxide nanoparticles. Also he has good experience in various fabrication techniques especially in anodization and electrophoretic deposition as well as in dip coating, spin coating and electrospinning. Apart from these he has hands on experience in handing analytical tools such as UV-Visible Spectrophotometer, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometer, Confocal Raman spectroscopy, Epifluroscence microscopy and High-Resolution Transmission Electron microscopy. Likewise, he has good skill in in vitro techniques such as antimicrobial evaluations for nanomaterials, hemocompatibility studies and immersion studies in simulated body fluids.
To his credit he has published four research articles as first author and has co-authored six more papers. During his Ph.D. work, he was awarded Senior Research fellowship (2018 – 2020) by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi, India. He has also been an active member on NACE (National academy for corrosion engineers) between 2015 – 2018.
His research focus will be on developing thin films on metallic implants for biomedical applications.
