Aleksa Luković’s stay with FunGlass
With the help of the JECS Trust program FunGlass was happy to host Aleksa Luković, a PhD student and junior researcher at the Institute of Nuclear Sciences Vinča, University of Belgrade, Serbia, for 3 month stay here in Trenčín.
He is starting his third year of PhD at the Faculty of Mining and Geology at the University of Belgrade. The topic of his PhD is Multipractical glass-ceramic composited using natural and waste materials as the starting materials. The main aim for the application for obtained materials is in radiations shielding and ballistic protection. The starting materials are basalt rock and mining waste in the form of mine tailings. Aleksa goal was to performe preparation of the samples and the mechanical and chemical characteristics here in FunGlass, which he successfully completed.
Aleksa was working under Prof. Dušan Galusek as the supervisor, with Dr. Diana Lago and Dr. Jozef Kraxner as the main collaborators at the Deparment for Glass Proccessing for 3 months (10 September – 10 December).
