Exploring Innovations in Glass Recycling with EVERGLASS

In our latest video, we explore groundbreaking advancements in glass recycling with researcher Dr. María Jesus Pascual from the Institute of Ceramics and Glass in Spain. María plays a pivotal role in addressing one of the toughest challenges in this field: recycling diverse types of glass that are often considered non-recyclable, such as medical vials and mixed glass waste.

María introduces an innovative technique called “Glass Laser Morphing,” which utilizes lasers to melt and shape glass in a manner similar to 3D printing. This cutting-edge method enables the recycling of various glass types with different melting points, offering greater flexibility than traditional energy-intensive furnace processes. The process starts with the collection and grinding of assorted glass waste into fine powders, which are then transformed through precise laser melting. By refining this technique, the EVERGLASS project is taking significant steps towards reducing landfill waste, conserving energy, and advancing the circular economy.

The FunGlass Center is proud to be part of the EVERGLASS project consortium, contributing to the development of sustainable and innovative recycling solutions.
