FunGlass at Glass & Optical Materials Division Annual Meeting (GOMD2024)

From May 19 to 23, 2024, Researchers of FunGlass participated at GOMD2024 conference in Las Vegas, USA, one the most important conferences in optical materials organized by the Glass and Optical Materials Division of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS). There was a strong turnout for the event, with 311 participants, including 71 students, representing 22 different countries. The event featured with a wide range of the technical sessions, awarded lectures and networking oportunities. Among the lectures, FunGlass was represented by Dr. Hana Kaňková, Assoc. Prof. Jose J. Velázquez and Dr. Zuzana Neščáková, who gave an invited lecture entitled  “Zinc-doped bioactive glass nanoparticles for tissue regeneration” at the session Glasses, Glass-Ceramics, and Glass-Based Biomaterials.

The other FunGlass contributions featured the following presentations:

Dr. Hana Kaňková: “Effect of different dynamic test conditions on the early stage dissolution behaviour of bioactive glasses

Assoc. Prof. Jose J. Velázquez García: “Nd3+ ion doped oxyfluoride silicate glasses and glass-ceramics for NIR laser application

The conference provided also the oportunity to meet with our advanced partners, mostly from ICV- CSIC, Madrid, Prof. Alicia Duran and Prof. Maria Jesus Pascual, Prof. Francisco Muñoz, and others such as Prof. Andrea de Camargo, from BAM Institute, Berlin, or Prof. Manoj Choudary, from Ohio State University who received the David Pye Lifetime Achievement Award, for which we congratulate him.
