Dr Penugonda’s general research interests are in dielectric, thermoluminescence, non-linear optics, specifically in bismuth borate, tellurite and bioactive glasses. He is having 25 years of teaching experience in different countries, India, Ethiopia, USA, Jamaica and having 20 years research experience on Glass materials. Dr. Rao has published three book chapter and 40 research articles on Glass and Glass-Ceramic materials in reputed peer reviewed international journals having 454 citations. He is the reviewer of the 15 international journals and having a collaborative research with the 10 countries.
Dr. Venkateswara Rao’s current research at the FunGlass is on Gallium-Silicate Bioactive glasses doped with some transition metal and rare earth ions. These glasses have plenty of applications in the field of bone tissue engineering. Dr. Penugonda expresses his deepest thanks to the SAIA, NSP for the project proposal approved, Prof. Dusan Galusek the director of the FunGlass Centre gave the permission to conduct the research under the supervision of Dr. Martin Michálek the Head of the Department of the Biomaterials.
