New experiences for PhD students from summer school in Dübendorf, Switzerland
FunGlass PhD students Avnee Chauhan and Ertugrul Varlik participated in Shaping 2022 Summer School “A Swiss knife for ceramics shaping: Between fiction, hope and vision” that was held at EMPA in Dübendorf, Switzerland, from 13th to 14th September 2022. The school was organized by the European Ceramic Society (ECERS ) and Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology (EMPA) with the Swiss Association for Materials Science and Technology (SVMT).
The objective of the summer school was to increase awareness of fundamentals (key metrics, current or inherent problems) and acquire best practices of selected shaping technologies.
“The Summer School gave me the opportunity to see the Switzerland in varying and interesting perspectives I never thought they are possible. My experience was a unique in perspective of learning, refreshing entertainment, a display of rich cultures and meeting with the field expertise Professors. The people around are truly kind, they are always willing to help, and they seek to bring the best out of their students. The places we visited were beautiful and the discussions in class were constantly intellectually stimulating” Avnee described her experience from summer school.
