New Publication: Pressure-Assisted Sintering for Advanced Glass-Ceramics

We are proud to announce the publication of our latest research article, “Pressure-assisted sintering approaches for up-converting LiYF4:Er/Yb transparent oxyfluoride glass-ceramics”, in Open Ceramics (peer-reviewed, open access journal) authored by Dr. N.M.P. Truong, Dr. Monika Michálková, Maria Sedano, Dr. Maria Jesus Pascual, and Assoc. Prof. Robert Klement.

This work highlights the innovative use of pressure-assisted sintering to achieve rapid densification of glass powders into bulk glass-ceramics containing fluoride phases. The resulting materials exhibit exceptional properties, including controlled crystallization of tetragonal RE-doped LiYF4 phases in the nano-size range and remarkable down- and up-conversion luminescence.

This study was carried out in collaboration with M. Sedano and Dr. M.J. Pascual of the Institute of Ceramics and Glass (CSIC), Madrid, Spain, for whose contribution we are grateful.

Special congratulations to Mai Truong, a talented young researcher who recently defended her PhD in December, for her significant role in this achievement.
