Sachin Pundir
I completed my master’s in physics from Chandigarh University, Mohali, India (2020-2022). My master’s thesis dissertation was supervised by Dr. Ruby Priya (Assistant Professor, Chandigarh University) and Prof. O.P. Pandey (Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, India). In my research, I focused on studying the structural, morphological, and electrochemical properties of carbon-supported MoO2 nanoparticles synthesized using waste plastic. My expertise includes the ability to synthesize nanomaterials through various methods, including hydrothermal, co-precipitation, combustion, and solid-state techniques.
After completing my Master’s, I worked as a project intern for a year at the TIET-VT Centre of Excellence in Emerging Materials (CEEMS) at Thapar Institute of Engineering, India, under the supervision of Prof. R.L. Mahajan (Virginia Tech, USA) and Prof. O.P. Pandey (TIET, India). My project, titled “MXene/Biomass-derived Activated Carbon Heterostructures as Supercapacitors and Photocatalysts”. During my tenure, I am working on the scale-up synthesis of MAX phases and MXenes. Throughout all these years, I honed my skills in utilizing waste-to-wealth approaches and gained extensive hands-on experience in operating various instruments, including electrochemical workstations (for HER, OER, and supercapacitor applications), UV-visible spectroscopy, photoluminescence, FTIR, ball milling, and high-temperature furnaces.
Currently, I am working as a Ph.D student at the Centre for Functional and Surface Functionalized Glass (FunGlass). My Ph.D work focused on utilizing industrial waste such as brown and red mud to develop a photoactive/conductive oxide electrode by additive manufacturing techniques for photo/electrocatalytic reactions.
