Research Collaboration with the Otto Schott Institute of Materials Research, Germany
We would like to share the accomplishments of our colleagues from the Functional Materials Department, Dr. Iryna Matsukevich and PhD student Muhammad Umer Iqbal, who recently returned to FunGlass after an intensive 8-month research exchange at the Otto Schott Institute of Materials Research, Friedrich Schiller University, Jena, Germany.
During their tenure, they worked under the expert guidance of Dr. Christopher Ashling and Prof. Lothar Wondraczek, focusing on pioneering advancements in glass science through the design and synthesis of novel glass materials incorporating metal-organic frameworks (MOF-glass).
Research Highlights:
- Dr. Iryna Matsukevich explored how variations in melting conditions influence the properties of ZIF-62 glass, shedding light on critical parameters for optimizing its characteristics.
- Muhammad Umer Iqbal concentrated on developing composite materials by integrating nanoparticles into zeolite imidazolate frameworks (ZIF-62), aimed at enhancing their potential for hydrogen storage applications.
Their contributions represent a significant step toward innovative solutions in functional glass materials. This collaboration underscores FunGlass’s commitment to fostering international research partnerships and advancing material science frontiers.
