14th International Conference on Solid State Chemistry
It is with pleasure that we can introduce to you the 14th International Conference on Solid State Chemistry (SSC) that follows those held in Karlovy Vary (1986), Pardubice (1989), Bratislava (1996), Prague (2000), Bratislava (2002), Prague (2004), Pardubice (2006), Bratislava (2008), Prague (2010), Pardubice (2012), Trenčianske Teplice (2014), Prague (2016) and Pardubice (2018).
The conference series was founded by Prof. Frumar as a symposium for scientists working in the field of solid state chemistry, chemistry and physics of novel inorganic materials. New concepts, approaches, fundamental understanding, as well as the application aspects of inorganic materials have been discussed. The conference has become a truly international event with a worldwide geographical distribution of the participants.

Previous years:
The 14th International Conference on Solid State Chemistry will be another of a long row of international conferences founded originally by Prof. Frumar. For many years, these events have been organised jointly by institutions and universities from Czech Republic and Slovakia and become a well-established forum for scientists from all around the world working in the field of solid-state chemistry, chemistry, and physics of novel inorganic materials.
The conference will be for the first time organised by FunGlass Centre of the Alexander Dubček University of Trenčín.
Like many other conferences in the world, the organisation of the 14 th International Conference on Solid State Chemistry has been affected by the Covid 19 pandemia and, eventually, it had to be postponed to 2021. Due to unpredictable situation and difficulties in planning the conference will be for the first time organised in a hybrid mode, with the possibility of both personal and online participation. It will be a challenge and an interesting
experience, but with your support, we are confident to make it a memorable event.
We are really honoured by the trust of previous organisers and will do our best to make the conference again a great forum for meeting the scientist from all around the world. We cordially invite you to Trenčín, the Slovak capital of glass research.
Prof. Dušan Galusek
Conference chairman

News
We have been closely monitoring the measures of the local government and public health authorities due to to the current Covid-19 health emergency. This situation is truly unprecedented. Despite the fact the situation in Slovakia seems to be under control, with relatively low numbers of infected, travel restrictions remain in place. So we had to make a difficult decision to postpone our SSC conference. We hope the global health crisis will be resolved/tackled and we and we will be able to welcome all the great guest speakers and all participants in the new term:
June 13- 17, 2021,
venue is unchanged.
That´s pleasure to announce that IUPAC and Visegrad fund have confirmed their support for 2021 as well.
In few days we will inform you by e-mail on new deadlines for submitting abstracts, and early bird registration.
That´s pleasure to announce that project entitled “From Brain Drain To Brain Gain at SSC 2021” prepared by Europen Projects Office (P. Hostak, P. Otrubcak, A. Chrastinova) was submitted within the Visegrad Funds and it has been approved for financing (grant budget of 9,980 Eur).
This project will support the organization of the 14th International Scientific Conference on Solid State Chemistry (SSC) and supplementary“brain drain reversal” events:
– Attracting and retaining talent workshop will be organized with the ambition to identify best practices in recruiting and retaining excellent Early Stage Researchers in leading V4 research institutions in the field of chemistry (14th June, 2021).
– V4 Early Stage Researchers Networking Event will be networking event, including FunGlass Lab tour (15th June, 2021).
– V4 Research Day will give researchers the opportunity to share their work in plenary and lecture sessions (16th June, 2021).
– Best Early Stage Researchers Contribution Award will create competitive environment for the Early Stage Researchers and to highlight talented students and promising researchers in the field of chemistry and to promote their scientific and research work (17th June, 2021).
We monitor the situation related to the spread of COVID-19 and, depending on the evolution of the situation, we will decide whether to organize a conference. All registered participants will be notified of this decision by e-mail and also on our website by 15 May.
The deadline for filling in the registration form and submitting the abstract is extended until April 10.
14th International Conference on Solid State Chemistry (SSC conference) organized by FunGlass (6-10th September) has earned IUPAC endorsement. This attests to the quality of the proposed scientific program and continues the tradition of collaboration in disseminating the work presented at the SSC conference. Selected papers from the conference will be published in a special edition of Pure and Applied Chemistry.
IUPAC(https://iupac.org/) is an international scientific organization founded in 1919. It is the world authority on chemical nomenclature and terminology, including the naming of new elements in the periodic table; on standardized methods for measurement; and on atomic weights, and many other critically-evaluated data.
